▶ Your Answer : It is justifiable for
criminals to be punished. Generally, when an offender is arrested, the person
goes to court. In there, judges give a judgment. However, criminals who commit
the same crime sometimes receive different punishments because of various facts
such as the judges’ ways of thinking, the atmosphere of the society and the
criminal’s social position.
There are some people who
argue that the punishments for each type of crime should be fixed. This is
because they think that it is unfair to be applied punishments depending on who
the offender is. For example, if a rich and famous person is punished less than
a poor and weak person, it will be unjust. In other word, law should be applied
equally.
On the other hand, others argue
that the judgment should be considered with the details and intentions. This is
because it can rescue people who are under a false accusation. For example, a
psychopath and a woman who murder in self-defense should be punished
differently. If she is treated as a murderer like a psychopath, it is
absolutely unfair.
In my opinion, although both
views make sense, I agree the first view. This is because law should be
objective. To be so, it is justifiable for all criminals who commit the same
crimes to be punished equally. It is important to prevent the regretful
situations that poor and weak people suffer from unintended results as well.
In conclusion, government and
the machinery of law should make a transparent society where anyone feel unfair
and be scarified. |
