▶ Your Answer :
Learning foreign languages is a key for people to survive in this global society. Comforting to this, some people argue that learning a foreign language at primary school is more beneficial for children than at secondary school. I am also of the opinion.
Firstly, children of younger age learn things faster. Young children between 7 and 12 can absorb whatever they face quickly, because they acquire things is the form of a play rather than a study. Therefore if children in primary schools are exposed to alphabets of a foreign language, they will learn the language easily like they learn how to build something with Logo. Thus, it must be said that it is best to make children familiar with a foreign language to allow them to prepare themselves for the future languages study.
Secondly, families and the society and save the expenditure for their children’s language learning by educate younger ones as early as possible. When children learn a foreign language at secondary school, they cannot adopt the language as a play anymore. They treat it as one of the school subject to get a high grade, and therefore focus on grammatical aspects of the languages. This, naturally, leads to the high expense for acquiring speaking skills when they are to be dealt with real challenges in the global society. This is a huge waste of time and money for the families and society in this face-paced environment.
From the reasons mentioned above, I believe a foreign language should be educated at primary school. There are no evident reasons to be against this opinion. |
