This pie chart shows the reasons people in Great Britain had for visiting art museums in the years in 1990 and 2000. Overall, reason for ‘to learn and gain knowledge’ took largest portion of all. Also there were 3 reasons which had a noticeable amount of percentage, ‘To attend a special exhibit’, ‘To spend time with friends and family’, and ‘To fill their travel schedules’, which all had more than 12% in each year.
To look at the graph more closely, in 1990 and 2000, ‘To learn and gain knowledge’ was the highest reason for people to visit museum, having 44% and 45% respectively. Reason for ‘To attend a special exhibit’ and ‘To spend time with friends and family’ had a similar amount of percentage, each having 12% in 1990, and in 2000, they had 18%, and 17%, ended up having only 1% point difference between them. In 1990, ‘To fill their travel schedules’ was the second highest reason among the 6 options, but in 2000, it dropped down to 4th place, having 12%. ‘To buy art’ had lowest percentage in 1990, but it rose up to 5% in 2000. Finally, purpose for ‘Others’ was 4% in 1990, declining to 3% in 2000.
