More and more
countries are sharing similar culture due to globalization. However, there are
both positive and negative aspects of this phenomena
Cultural
similarity among countries could be the result of globalization which has been
brought about by the development of technology. Today, people in one country could
experience and come to know about other countries’ culture without having to
visiting those countries through the internet and social medias. Furthermore,
visiting another country has become a common thing as the air travel. Thus,
this act of sharing and experiencing each country’s culture without much effort
has led to the more culturally similar global society.
The positive
aspect of this phenomena is that people of different countries would become
able to interact with each other more closely. Since they know that they share
common cultural features, their cultural barrier could be weakened, thus
facilitating the genuine interaction among people of different countries and
making them closer together. Nevertheless, not only could cultural
globalization bring some social benefits but also can compromise the cultural
diversity. It is because people have a tendency to prefer the culture of some
major countries over the culture of small ones, leading them to ignore the
value of culture of their own. In addition, it is obvious that culture from so-called
big countries are more influential than that of minor countries in leading the
global culture trend.
In conclusion, the
trend of each countries’ culture being more similar is due to the globalization
which in turn has emerged from technology development. However, some side effects
in terms of cultural diversity and social benefits co-occur in today’s global
culture trend. |
