▶ Your Answer :
Divergent opinions exist on learning a foreign language at primary school. Although some people argue that acquiring it at early year is important and effective in terms of pronunciation, I strongly believe that learning international languages can interfere with studying basic subjects.
To start with, there are some advantages of learning forein languages such as English and Japanese. This is because, when a pupil attend a primary school, their brain is considerably flexible than secondary students and they can pick up easily memorize a lot of vocabularies easily during this period. Accordingly, the speed of learning will be very fast and clear. Moreover, it can be very useful in terms of pronunciation. It is true that people who go abroad to study or immigration at an early age tend to show excellent pronunciations. Therefore, it is apparent that acquiring foreign languages has an positive influence on students.
However, despite its advantages, I would argue that disadvantages far outweigh its benefits. It is important for primary students to focus on basic subjects such as mathematics and science. This is because these subjects provide student to with foundation in various fields. In addition, when students prepare for further education or school, the grade of these subjects is necessary. In fact, focusing on learning foreign languages during this period can be both waste time and efforts. Therefore, it is apparent that learning elective subjects at primary schools has an negative influence on students who should consider further education.
In conclusion, Although there are positive opinions learning foreign language at primary school, I would argue that it can obstruct acquiring basic knowledge.
