▶ Your Answer : The pie charts compare the proportion of electricity produced by five different resources in Australia and France for the year 1980 and 2000.
In 1980, coal was the greatest fuel source to produce electricity, which accounted for half of total production(100 units). The dependency of coal became even greater in 2000 as about three quarters of total production(170 units). The rest of electricity production made up hydro power, natural gas and oil at 20, 20 and 10 units respectively. Hydro power used for electricity increased fairly by 36 units, while natural gas and oil declined markedly by both 2 units.
In terms of France, the greatest portions of fuel source for electricity production were coal, natural gas and oil at 25, 25 and 20 units in total 90 units. Hydro power was the lowest energy source at 5 units, and France used nuclear power for 15 units unlike Australia. The usage of unclear power, however, rose dramatically by 126 units, which was almost three quarters of total units(180 units). There was no significant changes about coal and oil over the period, while natural gas and hydro power were only allocated for 4 units.
In conclusion, coal was the greatest energy source in Australia in 1980 and 2000, whereas this changed from coal, natural gas and oil in 1980 to nuclear power in 2000 in France.
