Nowadays, numerous aspects of society are rapidly changing but it is also true that there are values that must remain the same regardless. While some people believe people have to keep traditions which older people set, I would argue that it is better to challenge them.
On the one hand, at some point of people's lives, everyone will have a time when they need older people's instructions which come from their own experiences. Often their advice helps younger generations to overcome struggles with low risks, especially when it comes to a situation where people have to face a completely new change. For example, after giving birth, simply without knowing what to do, a newly became mother asks her mother or other experienced women for help. Despite limitless tides of information available on the Internet, there are times when people rely on older people's experiences as they are the most trustworthy and reliable source of the information.
On the other hand, I think young people will be more creative as they try to find flaws in old standards and change them. For example, gender equality was not an acceptable idea several decades ago. Revolutionary thoughts against the elderly's opinions were the foundation of tody's achievement with respects to gender equality. As such, young people should constantly ask questions and think critically about how they could contribute to society with better and new ideas.
In conclusion, for the reasons mentioned above, I believe challenging old thoughts and opinions encourage young people to stay more creative and think critically. |
