Many children protection organization asserts that advertisements in modern society cause negative results on children's emotional development. This brings controversial issue whether the advertisements in social media including television, radio, the Internet must be limited or not. In this essay, I'll demonstrate effects of advertisement on young people and discuss methods to solve this problem.
It is certain that inappropriate advertising affects children's emotional development negatively. Unfortunately, young people have less ability to filter the commercial advertisement properly since they don't know well what is fact and how much the advertisement be exaggerated. So, they are inclined to believe as they contact. It leads to children's bad habit that they nag parents to buying the product advertised by their favorite charater or celebrity. If this illogical purchasing behavior repeated, it can be harden as their bad consume habit. In addition, young people is likely to imitate the TV star's fashion, speaking and in this fact, social media advertisement is good sources to get information. Sadly, if a kid do not follow peer group's bahavior, he will be out of their group, brings another social problem.
To solve this problem, the government should act actively and parent's roll is also important. First of all, the public education for young people is needed to enhance their perception ability about advertising. It must be executed periodically and inevitably all young people. Secondly, advertisement deliberate committee must establishes the level of advertising standards strictly and do limit after catching children's social media using tendency. Also, administrative authority should monitor the advertisers that they follows the related rules correctly. Lastly, parental responsibility is the best solution. Although parents try to keep their kids from dangerous advertisement, children can contact advertisement everywhere anytime. Therefore, steady observation and high lever of protection is required.
In conclusion, more and more, manufactures and advertisers make advertisement by setting the children as a target market. It takes harmful influence to kids emotionally as well as brings social problem. Therefore, the government authority should arranges policies limiting the advertising and educates children to protect from the risk of advertisement. |
