Some employers want to be able to contact their staff at all times, even on holidays.
Does this development have more advantages than disadvantages?
In modern society, contacting with workers on holidays has been in the enter of the public attention as well as the government. With regard to this matter, I believes the drawbacks of spending time after work outweigh the advantages. In this essay, the reasons for my belief will be elaborated
On the one had, there are several advantages of taking care of work on holidays. As for the major benefits, emergency problems can be solved quickly. No one can expect the emergency situation. For example, in restaurant, if staffs get hurts during the work, other staffs need more servers to offset the problems. In this situation, the owner should contact other members who are in day-off instead of the person who get hurts.
On other hand, there are a host of drawbacks if every staffs should keep contact in their free time. In terms of the major disadvantage, employees lose their leisure time if every holidays they should grab their phone. In addition, this phenomenon can make labours feel tired of work. In recent survey, over 60% of employees in corporation answered that receiving messages or call after work make them more tired and they usually refuse the messages. Companies should ensure employees’ rest to improve productivity during the work. Therefore, all things considered, I believe contacting after work has more negatives than positives.
In conclusion, although there are many strengths and weakness in relation to keeping contact, I believe drawback outweigh the benefits due to the reasons stated above.
