Overall, it is clear that young people who were 21~30 years old, the happiness level significantly decreased throughout the period. Also, the happiness level has reversed in the category of gender. In addition, it is noteworthy that happiness is substantially influenced by money.
The proportion of the happiness level by age showed a volatile change over the period given. Aged 21~30 happiness ratio dwindled to around 20% in 2012, which was 70% in 1980. Also, 41~50 years old and above 61 years old people's happiness level decreased to under 50% in 2012. Only, the percentage of people aged 31~40 surged over the period shown, from around 46% to about 59%.
According to the gender, in 1980, female’s happiness level was higher than the male’s happiness level with 70% and 51%, respectively. However, in 2012, the ratio reversed, the percentage of happiness by males went up to approximately 69% and females were 61%. The individuals' income was effective to happiness level, as the earning increased the happiness level climbed up simultaneously. In 1980, people who earned above 60,000 dollars accounted for 70% which was happiest among the income category, however, it slightly reduced in 2012 to about 61%, but it was the biggest percentage among the other incomes.
