The diagram illustrates how a geothermal power plant generates electricity.
Generally, in order to generate electricity by using geothermal power plant, it takes 5 steps. in this process, cold water is heated to hot water and it turns into steam energery then, finally, the vapour used to trun a turbine and generate electricity. Looking more closely, cold water is sent to a injection well which is 4.5Km below the surface of the ground, and in order to send water to it, a water pump is used. Once the water reaching the injection well, it go through the geothermal zone which is made of hot rocks, and the water becomes hot there. Then, the hot water arrives the production well. At the production well, the hot water is pumped up to a condenser where the hot water turns into steam. Then, the steam moves to the space where turbine is located and it turns the turbine. Next, the turning turbine supplys the movement energy to a generator, and finally the generator produces electricity. |
