Your Answer ▼ Sedack The image illustrates how the hydroelectric power station produce electricity using the energy of water.
To sum up, there are two flows of water between high-level water tank and low-level water tank, and these flows help power station make electricity to send by power lines to national grid.
First of all, river provide water to high-level reservoir. At day time, dam is opened, and water flows to low-level reservoir through reversible turbines of power station. When water pass the turbines, generator is operated to produce electric power, and send it to national grid trough power lines.
At night time, the reversal work operates. Dam is closed to stop the water flow from high-level to low-level, and the turbines pump low-level water into high-level reservoir. With processing this work, high-level reservoir is charged with water, and ready to generate electricity in day time. |
