Some educational specialists argue that homework should be assigned to children, while there is a claim that homework has a negative impact on children. Although both views are worth exploring, I firmly believe that school assignment’s disadvantages outweigh its benefits.
On the one hand, homework is thought to be essential for students because by doing it, they can check how much they understand about subjects that they learned from school. To be specific, students can review what they have learned and which parts should be taught more through their assignments. Statistics have shown that the majority of students diligently doing their assigned homework did better on the exact subject than the other students who paid less attention to their homework.
On the other hand, there is a chance for children to lose opportunities to interact with family and friends due to heavy homework. Especially, childhood is a important period for children to learn how to communicate with people and play out with their friends. Having to do homework may take a chance from students to learn social skills Not only that if a child is too immersed in doing assignments, they will be under pressure and become less interested in studying, bringing about lower educational achievements in the longer term. For these reasons, homework should not be mandatory for children.
To sum up, it is undeniable that homework helps children figure out what they studied in school. However, I firmly believe that the drawbacks of assignments, which may take educational interest from students, far outweigh the advantages of it. |
