It is widely accepted that music can play an important role of gathering people of different cultures and ages together. I partly agree with the opinion and this essay will discuss some of my reasons. To begin with, music brings people of different cultures together. It is not difficult to see songs sung by singers from various countries. People, thesedays, enjoy listening to music that is not limited to a specific culture. One good example to illustrate this is BTS, a Korean boy band. They topped the Billboard and other countries’ music chart several times even with Korean language lyrics. Music can be enjoyed without understanding the exact meanings of the songs. People just emphasize emphathize(emphasize는 강조하다 라는 뜻입니다! 공감하다라는 뜻으로 써주시려면 emphathy에서 파생된 emphathize 동사를 써주세요^^) with singers’ purposes by listening to the melodies. There is no need to be in same culture to understand songs entirely. The situation that musicians have become popular all over the world makes this opinion more convincing. On the other hand, there are quite big gap between different age groups to enjoy music. The old, for example, usually prefer to listen to classical and traditional music, while the young are likely to enjoy hiphop and rock music. That is the reason why we can see only younger people in hiphop musicians’ concert. Since the life style and experiences are differ from age groups, it is challenging to emphasize emphathize and enjoy the same music genres. There are almost no similarities in musical preferences of different ages, which makes sharing identical genres impossible. To sum up, it is clear that music is an effective way of bringing people of different cultures together, not ages. Music is not limited to a specific culture regardless of the extent of understanding lyrics, while it is not feasible to narrow the gap between each age group. |
