People who agree with the idea that advertising is convincing might argue that it works well in the market and is the best way to lure potential customers. This is because people are highly exposed to social media or websites where they are often linked to one another, sharing information by themselves, recommending decent products that best suit us. During using the Internet, it is not at all unusual to come across advertisements of the products that we looked up from different pages last night. That is because tech-moguls such as Google and Meta-whose name was previously Facebook-utilize ‘algorithm’. They analyze people’s preferences and recommend what they need. In the light of this case, it goes without saying advertising is the extremely efficient way to make people buy things, especially with the combination of the technology. On the other hand, advertising gets on many people’s nerves quite often. A lot of people are exposed to countless advertisements on a daily basis, consequently, nobody really wants to pay attention to it. In fact, many people get upset when they cannot carry on what they are doing due to the sudden appearance of advertising in the middle of using application or watching videos. To take an example, the number of subscribers on Youtube, the biggest video platform worldwide, has been consistently increasing. The very purpose of the subscription is to skip advertisements. With that being said, reckless advertisements only put off customers and do not help draw any more attention. To sum up, it is apparent that advertising can be a great way to seduce people to look at products. The efficiency of it could particularly be enhanced with Internet technologies since advertisements can reach millions of people by using them, However, advertising often irritates people with frequent alarms or disturbance while searching something online or watching videos. Besides, they even make people pay to avoid them, therefore there should be a better way to get people’s attention to sell products. For instance, companies could focus on the quality of products and get great reviews on them instead of reckless advertisements that most people hate to bump into. |
