These days, there are a great number of people who drive their own vehicle. About this, there is the issue of whether the government impose a penalty on drivers on the road during rush hour. Some people say that the government should impose a fee on them to help reduce number of cars, which lead to air pollution. Others mention that the government should guarantee people's freedom which can drive whenever they want. My opinion is totally belonged to the former.
To begin with, imposing a rush hour fee can make the drivers use public transportation instead of their own car, diminishing air pollution form exhaust fumes. To be more specific, if the government imposes a fine during rush hour, most people do use public transit as commuting means as rush hour means that a lot of workers get off their work at the same time. This can lead to cut down air pollution form exhaust fumes. In Europe, for instance, the government has started imposing a fine on driers who drive over the limited number a week. As a result, lots of people started to use public transportation, carpool, and bicycle instead of using vehicles. This regulation brought about a result, which is not only relieved traffic congestion, but decreased the lever of air pollution. On top of that, the government would make the cities, where are getting to be polluted by cars, more beautiful and healthy by using penalties from drivers. It means that the government can install some air cleaner on the streets as well as plant some flowers and trees that are helpful for polluted air. In effect, in some countries, governments spend all the fees from drivers only on improvement of environment pollution.
To sum up, the fine from drivers during rush hour will definitely help environment maintain cleanness as well as alleviate traffic jam in rush hour. For these reasons, charging a penalty on specific drivers will help cut down air pollution form vehicles. |
