Some people think that advertising is an extremely effective method of buying something and publicizing products. However, other people say that advertising is not a special method to persuade people. In this essay, I will discuss these both views and I will suggest my own opinion.
Recently, the majority of people face advertising in visual media or social networking services. For example, Youtube’s videos include commercial advertising and it is an efficient way to publicize products to people. In fact, after products are exposed on Youtube, the number of sales is tremendously increased. Another example, if one celebrity wears specific clothes and accessories for advertisements and posts on her instagram, people search her clothes on the Internet, and we can see that these clothes and accessories are sold out immediately. Therefore, some people argue that advertising is a successful way to persuade people to buy something.
On the other hand, people can ignore these advertisements. These advertisements are exposed on Internet and Social networking services repetitively. If advertising repeats over and over, people doubt the product function itself conversely. As a result, they ignore and skip commercial advertising. In the middle of the street, printed ads are scattered and many people ignore them because they think that it isn’t important. In my case, I always skip advertising and ignore them, because it makes me annoyed and I think that products which are marketed by advertisement are not useful in reality.
In conclusion, I think that advertising is an important part of sailing products. Also, I agree that it is an efficient way of persuading people. However, repeated advertisement makes people get tired of it, as a result, advertisement loses its functions.
