People are divided in opinions whether reducing the income gap between the rich and poor is the best way to make society happier or not. I firmly believe that minimizing the difference in income could mitigate social problems. This essay will demonstrate why I support this idea than oppose it.
Firstly, the gigantic income gap reduces the desire to work. Economic factors are important to people who are living nowadays. Job seekers' most valuable factor is income when they find a job in the future to sustain a fashionable life. Therefore, good-salary job places show high competition however low-wage job places are having an extreme shortage of getting workers. A lot of research shows that job seekers are happily applying to highly competitive job markets which assure higher salaries relatively than small companies. The vast majority of job seekers want to go big company unemployed even if they can go small company without suffering. For these reasons, if we allowed wage gab it would be a more skewing workforce in the future.
Secondly, income differences would worsen social inequality more severely. If the income gap is continued then the rich are going to be richer and poor people are going to poorer. For this reason, peoples' social status will be determined by which job do people get. Lots of studies show that chance of becoming rich is 50% who work in the city in 100-years ago. However, nowadays, it is significantly reduced to under 10%. For these reasons, it grows worries about social inequality in the future more severely if we do not mitigate income gaps.
To sum up, The huge gaps in income lead not only to decrease workforce but also to increase social problems. Therefore, governments should tackle the gap between workers in society for solving problems and making them happy. |
