It is clear that the proportion of owned accommodation had increased, but the percentage of rented houses had decreased by 2001. Also, in 1918 the rate of owned housholds was much samaller than proportion of rented houses, but in 2011, the figure for owned houses almost tripled and took the bigger portion than rented houses.
In the year 1918, 20% of households were self-owned, and the percentage of rented households were approximately at 78% which was its peak, and also the gap betwen two types was were the biggest. However, by the year 2001, the rate of rented houses had decreased gradually to around 30%, and in opposite to this trend, the rate of owned houses had increased steadily to near 70%. Interestingly, thoese opposite two trends crossed at 50% point in 1971.
