Your Answer ▼ It is such debatable topic that construction of more roads by governments is a solution of heavy traffic. In my opinion, I disagree with the statement for these two reasons: first, it causes environmental pollution and be costs a lot of money from taxes.
To begin with, to build more roads is brought building more roads brings negative effects to the environment. To be specific, it causes a lot of pollution such as air pollution. To construct roads, people would remove many trees in forest, then we would loses loss our environmental resources which can to prevent pollution. Although, governments resolve the problem temporarily, we will face another environmental problem. Additionally, if new roads are is built, people will bring more cars and it causes noise pollution as well.
Next, governments would have to use use a lot of taxes to build the roads. Specifically, construction of the roads is requested lots of costs. Some people believe that the taxes are is used properly for building roads. However, I strongly believe that it is a waste of wasting money. There are have many other solutions for heavy traffic. I will bring a policy in Korea for traffic as an example. 3 years ago, the government legislated a policy that reduced reducing usage of cars. That is people choose a day in a week, and do not use the car on that day. My father also agreed that policy and he always has not been using the car for 3 years one that particular day, and there are many people who do so like do same as my father. As a result, portion of heavy traffic decreased decreases significantly in 3 years as well as the portion of air pollution declined declines.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the statement. This is because to build new roads affects to environmental pollution and it costs is cost a lot of taxes from public. Also, also there are many other solutions as well.
