▶ Your Answer :
There are people who argue that traditional
music of a country is more important than international music. There are also
many other people who insist the opposite arguments. I, however, can agree with
neither of these arguments, because I do not think whether the music is
traditional or international matters if it is useful to express our feelings or
to encourage us to finish difficult tasks.
We need music both when we are happy and
sad since it helps us express the feeling. Through music we can share our
feelings, either happiness or sadness, with others. By sharing our feelings
with others, we can magnify the happiness and lessen the sadness.
Moreover music gives us power to conduct grueling
tasks a lot more easily and efficiently. For example, soldiers always sing
songs when they march for a long time, since the songs helps them forget their
tiredness. Farmers or fishermen also sing songs when they work for the similar
reason. By singing songs, people can forget about difficulties of their works so
they can finish their tasks more easily and efficiently.
If the reasons why we need music are to
share our feelings with others and to be encouraged when we are doing hard works,
in this perspective, which music is more important, traditional or
international music? I do think it does not matter, as I mentioned above. If
people in a country think or feel that traditional music is better to express
their feelings than the other, the former is more important than the latter, and
vice versa.
To sum up, since we need music to express our
feelings and share them with others, and to conduct grueling works more easily
and efficiently, the importance of music should be decided on the basis of
whether it is good or bad for fulfill its reason for existence, rather than on
the basis of its originality.
