Your Answer ▼ It might seem obvious that teaching science and technology in high school is more important than learning history and art because of the emergence of the internet in contemporary era. Although rewards for being expertise in certain fields can be justified, we should not overlook the advantages acquired learning of history and art.
Some people say that studying science and technology is even more valuable. This is because we are living a transition of information society that ever before and so people should be open to learning to new informative classes. However, education should not be biased because children should be exposed to various academic expertise to prepare to be a well behaved ordinary student as a whole. In addition, these two subjects are more likely to draw our children into a virtual life in which they cannot feel emotional senses such as sympathy, intimacy, and humanity. Therefore, teenagers are more likely to be isolated from their peer ground.
It is clear that there are the number of benefits of teaching history and art. First of all, history and art help young people understand their own culture and how their culture and country have evolved, giving people a sense of roots and belonging. Furthermore, art is an expression of the phases of the time. Many museum, for example, processes of different collection of artists who can describe their emotions and inspiration about a certain period time throughout their work. Besides, valuable information can often be found in history and art, such as traditional medicines and different lifestyles. Learning about past lifestyle and techniques used by people in the past might broaden our horizon in our lives.
For these reasons mentioned above, I absolutely do not agree the opinion that teachers need to more focus on teaching science and technology to students in middle and high schools. However, we should place more value on learning history and art so that we are less likely to repeat the tradigies happened in the past and more like to keep up the wisdom of lifestyle. |
