There might be controversial debates
regarding the issue of whether it is appropriate to raise the price of flight
tickets to alleviate environmental problems. While there are some proponents, I
do not advocate that expensive air travel can be deemed as an action to decline
the pollution level. In this regard, I will write this essay concerning my
opinions. On the one hand, some people believe that low
priced air travel could encourage ordinary people to travel more. It is true
that there are a number of low-cost airlines due to the development of the
aircraft industry, and people are able to move much easier and quicker.
However, the more people take flights, the more pollutant the plane produces.
Raising the price of them, therefore, could be one of the solutions to control
the doses of pollutants in the air since fewer travellers are expected to buy expensive flight tickets theoretically, feeling
the financial burden of using airplanes. However, increasing the price cannot be an efficient and feasible way of
reducing air pollution. In recent days, most business establishments and trading
systems are all operated without borders, and even more travellers
than the past have begun to visit various tourist sites once in a while
whenever they have a long vacation. These
situations reflect people’s demand for travelling, and the
demand cannot be ignored under the name of environment protection. Moreover,
it is probable that people would still go on a trip regardless of the higher price,
which would not eventually drop the contamination level.
In conclusion, although using air travels
can induce several environmental issues, I firmly argue that simply raising
prices is not a desirable way because it can deprive people of the right to
travel further.
