The line graph and bar chart give information
concerning the percentage of election participation by age, gender, and income
from 1990 to 2010.
Overall, the percentage of participation became
higher as participants grow older, while this rate declined when people earn
more money. In addition, the gap of voting participation between males and
females became decreasing throughout the period.
Looking at the chart more closely, the
percentage of people more than 51 years old showed the highest among other age
groups from 50% in 1990 to 68% in 2010. Interestingly, the figure of people
from 21 to 30 years old overtook the figure from 31 to 40 at 55% in 1997. In
the case of gender, the gap between men and women were 50% in 1990. This gap
shrunk as the participation of females increased to 50% in 2010.
Moreover, people who earned money less than
$20,000 participated election the most among other income groups. The figure
was more than 60% throughout the period. However, it is noticeable that people
who earned money more than $60,000 showed the least percentage of participation,
which figure never surpassed 20% between 1990 and 2010.
