With the increasing zeal of education for children's better future, focusing more on the academic subjects has become one of the largest controversies in mordern society. Some people argue that children can tacke more opportunities to enter the quality university and find out better jobs in the future due to high academic scores achieved. However, I take the view that children can develop their social skills and attain various capabilities by taking diverse classes such as music and sports.
Some mention that the easier children pay attetion to the main subjects, the more they have chances to have guality education at a better university. For this reason, there are many high schools which focus on certain parts : foreign language high school and science high school. However, schools mentioned above also take various classes, teaching focused subjects for more times, or provide students with extra curricular activities in order to supplement other subjects. This is mainly becuase that students can develop their social skills and evaluating thinking through such activities. For example, while playing a soccer game, students may experience collective efforts and cooperation to win a game with other team members. The main subjects like mathmatics or languages do not require activities conducted with other students. Therefore, students can learn about socializtion and cooperation by taking sports education.
Additionally, students would find out their potential capability and appropriate leisure activities while attending a range of classes. For the future, students need to figure out thier talents so that they can either decide their career path or enjoy the appropriate activities to realeas stress. As an example, I was able to specialize in design thanks to the art class at the high school. If it had not been for the class which the teacher adviced my drawing and ability, I would not have decided my major before applying an university..According to my own experience, diverse experience conducted in various classes can help students figure out their ability.
Overall, teaching soely the academic subjects would prevent students from opportunities to experience social activities and their potential talents. Thus, despite chances to better future careers, schools should encourage students to attend a side range of classes including sports, art and music. |
