It is a common belief that people nowadays no longer pay
attention to advertising because of its ubiquity when they buy somethings.
However, there is a more persuasive argument that advertising is still
effective to make people purchase items due to increase of advertising based on
user interests.
On the other hand, it is true that traditional advertising
is not working as well as it did in the past. These days consumers are getting
smarter, they know that the price of goods surely include advertisement fee,
which makes the price of goods go up. Therefore, many people tend to search the
most suitable options while trying their
best to search out a good deal. For example, over the past few years, Korea has
had a trend uprised by young generation of buying items that have good price
for its quality. This can show that people are not likely just buy things they
see on advertisement.
Nevertheless, I firmly believe that advertising still
accounts for big parts when it comes to purchasing items. As consumers are
getting smarter, advertising too is getting smarter. Advertising is not just
random today, it is somewhat targeted to each individuals. The advertising
company collects user’s data through machine learning and artificial
intelligence and this exactly reflects user’s interests. For example, many
people these days will have an expierence of being shocked by how advertisment
recommends the items that they were interested in. The ad company increases the
exposure of items which potential consumenr might find interested after they
analyze user interests.
In conclusion, it is true that consumers’ dependency on
commercial decreased these days. However, it is more persuasive that people
still purchase items that they were exposed a lot in the advertisement due to
targetted advertising basis user’s interests with help of technology. |
