안녕하세요. 매번 감사드립니다.
이번에는 쓰다 보니 글이 좀 길어진 것 같아요(308자). 시간도 조금 오래 걸려서 고민이네요 ㅜㅜ

Nowadays parents put too much pressure
on their children to succeed. What is the reason for doing this? Is this a negative
or positive development?
In these days, parents tend to impose a heavy
strain on their children to achieve success. This is mainly caused by limitless
competition and widespread materialism in our society. I believe that this is a
negative development which can lead to children’s mental problems and lack of social
bond.
Turning first to the reasons, one is the limitless
competition due to steep development between the past and the modern times. While
a society witnessed numerous changes, people had to experience increasingly excessive
competition to maintain their livings. As parents are the people who went through
this period of transition, they want to make their children succeed and avoid deprivation.
In addition, the broad spread of materialism is another reason. Nowadays the vast
majority of parents tend to think that materialistic things such as money are the
integral parts of happiness. Therefore, they often emphasise about the successful
life even if it comes with too much stress and pressure on their children.
There are two main results which can prove this
current phenomenon as a negative development. Firstly, giving too much pressure
on children can cause their mental problem. The children who feel a lot of pressure
from their parents overly suffer from a failure and lose their self-esteem. As a
result, the premature depression in young ages already become a serious social problem
in these days. Secondly, it deteriorate the social bond maintaining our community.
The children who have been raised by parents obsessed with success tend to be selfish
and overly competitive. Therefore, these children will care about their own interests
rather than socialising with others or having a sense of community.
In conclusion, excessive competition and
materialism are the reasons for the recent phenomenon of parents’ pressure on
their children and I strongly believe that this is the negative development in
both children and a society.
