The chart below shows the amount of leisure time enjoyed by men and women of different employment status. Leisure time in a typical week in hour - by sex and employment status, 1998-99.
The bar chart provides information related to the number of leisure hours enjoyed by individuals who were involving in five different work status in a specific week during the years 1998 to 1999, with a focus on gender.
It can clearly be seen that there were more males who were active in their free time in three of the five employment status. However, males were not measured in two sectors, which are Part Time Employed and Housewives.
Initially, regarding the majority of men who enjoyed their leisure time were unemployed (Approximately 83 hours in a week). Followed by retired men were free for about 81 hours per week. Conversely, Full time workers were able to have spare time only for around 43 hours. However, there was no information when it comes to Part Time employees and Housewives.
As for females, most people who had their leisure time for about 84 hours were in unemployed work statue. In a similar fashion, women who retired had about 83 hours of leisure time per week. Conversely, the least employment statue in terms of female was full time employed (36 hours). In terms of Housewives and those people who were part timers had about 50 hours and 40 hours of leisure time respectively.
