High school students increasingly choose to continue their education in college or university. It is definite that a higher level of education has become ubiquitous in modern days. This essay will explain that students apply to university or college in an attempt to secure a job and seek for more opportunities.
Firstly, there is no doubt that, in current society, the unemployment rate is becoming higher, representing a more competitive job market every year. This leads to the fact that university degree is now mandatory for most of the jobs. For example, numerous restaurants prefer to hire a waiter with a college degree even though an ability to serve a table is irrelevant to having a higher education. Therefore, nowadays, students view that a university education is a minimum requirement in securing a decent job.
Secondly, attending college is not only about being educated on certain subjects but also about being provided with a host of opportunities. These opportunities can guide students with a way to upgrade their social status. For example, university students are more likely to have a chance to study abroad as an exchange student and acquainted with people with promising future in different parts of the world. Therefore, students are certain that post-secondary education can serve as a stepping stone to their successful future.
