| Some students prefer classes with open discussions between the professor and students and almost no lectures. Other students prefer classes with lectures and almost no discussions. Which do you prefer?

Have open discussions or continue with the traditional methods of teaching classes have advantages and disadvantages. However I prefer the open discussion way of classroom because it provides the opportunities for students to broaden their horizons. This essay will discuss the reasons for my arguments.
Open discussions will be able to link the theories with reality. When students make an argument, they have to use their own knowledge to explain and support the claims. By using of their own knowledge, they will be able to see the world that has been applied the theory. They might know how this theory has applied in reality. If they learned in a traditional way, they will never know how this theory will be applied in reality unless they experience it. In the case of students cannot understand the terminology of depreciation unless they work at a company, can be seen as the example of this.
Furthermore, students can be able to think logical and critical by having discussions in the class. Because the claim never stands alone without examples and explanation. By continous explanation and persuasion, students will gain the ability to select the relevant examples and appropriate explanation. Also, open discussion meaning counter-attacks during the class. When there is the counter-attacks, the brain of students would process through several stages in order to present the most valid and relevant reasons to counter back. In other words, this counter-attack will enable students to think logic. Meanwhile, students who are counter-attacking, they will improve critical thinking.
When professors are lecturing students without any discussions, will be convenient, because this way has been using in most of classes for a long time. Students have been accustomed to learning in this way. Despite its convenience, this way limits the opportunities of students to form opinions. Because the professors have given all the ideas and solutions to students in this traditional method, they may not be able to form an opinion.
In conclusion, the discussion way of learning will broaden students' horizons with forming an opinion in a logical and critic way of thinking. Therefore, student's opinion is more important than learning the concept.
