Many have realized the importance of environmental protection. That being said, they hardly ever take action themselves. What are the reasons? What should be done to encourage individuals to take actions on this issue?
The saying 'It's easier said than done' is applicable in individuals' minimal participation in environmental protection even though their high level of environmetal awareness. There are several causes of this alarming trend, however measures certainly can be taken to tackle the problem.
The main reason is that people think they need to spend more money and time when they try to protect the environment. A lot of people consider environmental protection is costly and irritating. For example, using reusable bottle is one of the most pratical ways to protect the environment. But most people find it unconvenient to wash it everytime after they use it. Another common cause of this issue is people are skeptical that their actions can contribute to deal with environment problems. Environmental issues such as global warming is so huge that individuals feel that there is nothing they can do and those are the issues dealt with by organizations or governments.
However, there are many ways to encourage individuals to take steps to mitigate environmental problems. One of the most effective actions would be to decrease difficulties with environmental protection and to support it. For instance, offering the disaccount when people use a reusable container in a cafe or restaurent gives a motivation for individuals to take actions. Second measure would be to publicize simpel activities that individuals can do on the daily basis. Using a bycle instead of a motor vehicle is as important as planitng trees in deserts. Letting people know about this will raise individuals pariticipation in solving the environmental issues.
In conclusion, there are a variety of solutions to the problems that could be presented due to people's misunderstandings about the environmental protection.
