Overall, it is clear that the sales of coffee increased throughout the period for all five countries. It is also noticeable that apart from Sweden and Denmark, a similar trend was observed in bananas as well.
Looking at the graph more closely, one can see that the amount of Fairtrade-labelled coffee surged in 2004 compared to 1999 and the UK showed the most dramatic increase by 18.5 million euros which is greater than the combined amount of euros made by the other four countries. Interestingly, Switzerland’s sales increased from 3 million euros to 6 million euros which indicates a doubled figure. Both Denmark and Sweden showed the same amount of growth by 0.2 million euros, while Belgium’s figure ascended by 0.7 million euros, reaching 1.7 million in 2004. In case of bananas, an upward trend was shown in the UK, Switzerland, and Belgium. The amount that people in Switzerland spent on the Fairtrade-labelled bananas grew exponentially, from 15 million euros to 47 million euros. Furthermore, British and Belgian (사람이 아닌 국가로 가시면 됩니다. 둘은 엄연히 달라요.) also demonstrated a growth and reached 5.5 and 4 million euros respectively in 2004. Surprisingly, in Sweden and Denmark, the exports euros earned from bananas dipped by approximately 1 million euros.
