Humans have achieved remarkable economic growth and success
through vast developments around the world, yet our environment has been
suffering from global warming. As consequences, the earth’s temperature is
rising year and glaciers are rapidly melting, which not only destroy wildlife
but also human habitats. In this essay, I will discuss the causes of global warming
and suggest potential solutions to this issue.
Essentially, global warming is caused from burning fossil
fuels and increased greenhouse gas emissions. Fossil fuels include coal, oil
and natural gas, and these are the key energy sources for many products that
humans use in daily life, such as cars and electricity. These resources are
widely used because they are not only necessary in our daily activities, but are
also cheap and abundant. Thus, people have overlooked environmental destruction
for several decades to exploit more fossil fuels without trying to alleviate
the issue of global warming.
In order to mitigate this serious problem, renewable energy,
such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric should be developed and utilized. In
this process, governments’ policies and investments would be highly supportive.
For example, providing tax benefits to the sustainable energy industries would allow
such companies to grow and further reduce the country’s environmental damage. Furthermore,
individuals should make efforts in selecting alternative green products and
recycling in everyday life. The recycled materials can be re-used to make new
products and decrease overall energy consumption.
The use of fossil fuels have brought convenience in our
lives, yet the world is destroying due to global warming. In order to mitigate
this matter, renewable energy should be developed and individual’s attempt for
recycling would be critical.
