Nowadays, life expectancy is getting longer due to the
development of technology, as a result, people’s desire for living healthy is
greater than ever. Some people argue that living in the country is better to
lead a healthier lifestyle and others insist on living in the city to live
healthily.
To begin with, life in the country can be less stressful
compared to the city as the costs of living especially housing is relatively
lower than the city and living surrounded by nature and cleaner environment
provide peace of mind which is a key to live healthily. For instance, air
quality is better in the rural area as there are fewer pollutants such as cars
and factories which has detrimental effects on respiratory health.
On the other hand, the city offers better infrastructure and
active lifestyle which are also fundamental factors to lead a healthier
lifestyle. Some researches have shown those city dwellers have a more active
lifestyle, therefore their physical age is younger than their actual age.
Furthermore, hospitals and health-related facilities such as acupuncture
centres or massage parlours are clustered in the city, making it more
approachable for the people who live in the city.
To conclude, both living in the country and in the city have
their own benefits over each other, such as better quality of nature and more
relaxed lifestyle or accessibility to hospitals and health facilities
and more active lifestyle, respectively. Thus, I believe that to reside in the area
where meet their personal preference and needs will promote the health of the individual
the most.
