Generally, the volume of travelers to and from the UK maintained steady growth during the given period. Particularly, the growth rate was steep between 1984 and 1989. Eventually, the number of UK travelers surged from around 12 million to more than 50 million while the number of overseas residents visited UK increased almost triple from 10 million to 28 million.
With regard to the five most popular countries welcomed UK people in 1999, France held more than 10 million UK visitors as the most favored neighboring country from the UK tourists while Spain attracted slightly below 10 million UK residents as the second most famous country for the UK residents. Three other countries which are USA, Greece and Turkey were visited by 2 to 4 million UK resident during the same year.
