In
some countries, the widespread use of the internet has given people more
freedom to work or study at home instead of travelling to work or college. Do
the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?
As the Internet networking technology has advanced
recently, people do not need to commute to work or study anymore. Although this
new life style can give both negative and positive effects on our society, it
seems pretty clear that this development will make us more convenient.
Some people are worrying about human isolation due
to the Internet. That is because working or studying at home would result in
the decrease of meeting with coworkers and friends. Face to face communication contains
not only words but also emotions. Through the interacting with others emotionally,
people are able to make synergy in their offices. Those are the main disadvantages
of working at home individually. However, given that working at home can make
people save a lot of time and energy to commute to work or study, the benefits
of the Internet cannot be ignored.
The most beneficial factor of working at home using
the Internet is saving time and energy. Reduced commuting time and energy makes
it possible for workers and students to share their time with their family and
friends than before. Additionally, as for working efficiency, spending less
time and energy on going to work or study will improve people’s concentration
on their task. Furthermore, those positive effects such as building a better
relationship with their family and enhancing working efficiency would make
people to relish the better life qualities than ever.
In conclusion, although there are some drawbacks of
working or studying at home, the benefits such as saving one’s time and energy seem
more worthy.
