<Topic> Governments spend a lot of money on public
celebrations such as national holidays and public festivals. Some people say
that the government spends too much on this and that they should use this
money on other useful things. Do you agree or disagree? |

Many
people often claim that celebrating national holidays is a pivotal method to
remember their forebears’ spirit. However, some people give their voice to
against those public festivals since they believe the administration spend a
plethora of money on those events so that people have to endure leaped taxes.
As I completely disagree with the latter standpoint, my point of view will be
outlined in this essay. First and foremost,
I strongly believe that national events are excellent ways to inherit forebears’
spirits. As the world is getting more globalized as well as individualized, historical
people’s great works and their notions are fading out in people’s minds these
days. By holding nationwide festivals such as independent days, young people can
be educated in an interesting manner how their ancestors confronted enemies to
obtain their sovereignty and intend to give a better country to their descendants.
Furthermore, it might be an opportune method to pursue solidarity in society
and assure their autonomy in the world. Hence, if a nation encounters crisis
like COVID-19, people can forge resilience to be together. What is more,
the administration is able to raise higher revenue from national festivals. A
good exemplar can be the ‘Octoberfest’ in Munich, German. It is not only
well-known to a huge conventional beer event but also renowned internationally.
Therefore, as the festival lures gigantic tour groups and innumerable backpackers
all around the world, it has become the most famous tourist attraction in German
which allows the government earns a great deal of money from travelers. In
addition, it is generally believed that surplus national income conveys another
the public welfare and let the administration invest in vulnerable social
groups. In reiterate,
although some people insist that national taxes should be consumed for other usages
instead of festivals and holidays, I am firmly convinced that people can look
back their historical achievement and remind traditional spirits thanks to conventional
festivals and it subsequently can be nationwide financial merits to support vulnerable
group members in the community and the public welfare. |
