The graph figure compares foods that Australians consumed per person each year from 1939 to 1999. Overall, it can be seen that the most consumed food was vegetables over the period, while seafood was the least popular for Australians. As for vegetables and fruit, they showed the highest majority of food spending in the graph. Individuals had 140kg of vegetables per person in 1939, and it fluctuated from 1959 to 1979, and finally it rose to 160kg in 1999. The fruit had shown the third most high-consumed food (80kg to 90kg) until 1967, it overtook the meat in 1967 and then it skyrocketed by 140kg.
Looking at the seafood, the figure, which was the lowest in the whole period, was constant with around 20kg. Also, people kept consuming consumed bread with no big changes, from 40kg in 1939 to 60kg in 1999. On the other hand, meat was the second-most popular consumed consuming food for Australians at first (110kg), it dropped by 80kg in 1999. |
