The government should sometimes infringe on people's freedom for the security of society. Agree/ disagree?
It is considered that oftentimes the government needs to have the power to infringe on people’s rights for the entire society. I steadfastly concur with the statement taking preventing crimes and unethical behaviors~ into consideration.
To begin with, the government could reduce the crime rate by controlling people’s freedom. It is axiomatic that the government put their best foot forward to stabilise society by using several methods, such as enacting laws. Although this law could infringe a person’s freedom, this needs to be justified if it contributed to society by restricting felons’ crimes. This is because criminals, including – serial killers or person who did sexual harassment – can not only have a detrimental impact on society but also commit something worse if they are not controlled by the government, which, as result, causing people to be confused and breaking the security and order of the society.
On top of that, in an effort to ensure a person’s safety, infringing on people’s freedom by the government is inevitable. It is an undeniable fact that the fitness of citizens is the top priority among other factors. This is because this is directly related to the well-being of people, which has a profound influence on the overall social atmosphere. For example, the government sometimes reveals personal information about the patients who are diagnosed with Covid-19 to the public to stop the spread of the virus, which can threaten not only people’s health but also the security of society.
In conclusion, when all specific reasons and relevant examples are considered and evaluated, I firmly agree that the government ought to restrict one’s freedom sometimes when it pertains to potential crimes and safety aspects.
