The pie charts illustrate the information related to the proportion of produced electricity by fuel source in France during the years 1990 and 2010, with a focus on five different sources of fuel which are oil, coal, natural gas, hydropower and nuclear power.
In general, it can be clearly observed that the usage of nuclear power for generating electricity in France considerably increased throughout the whole period. Meanwhile, when it comes to natural gas, there was a huge decline. In addition, remaining other sources of fuel saw general drops.
In 1990, the percentage of natural gas and coal accounted for 28% each. This was followed by Oil which had 22%. However, Hydro power was the least used source which recored at only 6%.
As to the data for 2010, the majority of electricity was produced by a source of nuclear power, numbering 67%. The amount of Coal and Oil consumptions dropped to 13% each and natural gas had a sharp decrease to 4%. Conversely, hydro power again tallied the smallest energy generated in 1990 (only 2%).
