Q. Individuals can do nothing to improve the environment; only governments and large companies can make a difference. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
A.
I totally disagree that individuals can not do anything to make the environment better because there are so many things to do for saving the nature as individuals.
Definitely, Governments and large companies can make a conspicuous improvement in preserving nature. The ecofriendly policies and regulations come from governments and famous companies developing nature-friendly technologies are the main key for the environment. However, there are two points that participant of individuals is also as very important as governments and companies.
First, those who follow the policies and regulations that the governments make are individuals. All the policies and regulations are announcing to citizens and eventually the citizens, the individuals are making those come true. That means if individuals do not follow the policies, the policies will be meaningless. Some individuals even volunteer to make the environment better in their own ways. Hence, governments can make a difference for the environment but individuals cannot, that statement is a ridiculous paradox.
Secondly, individuals can consume healthier products for the environment from companies with extra money. For example, making recyclable products usually takes more money than disposable ones, but if consumers worry about the environment so they are willing to participate to save nature, many companies will make recyclable products. There are already many people who consume only recyclable products for the environment and they keep doing some campaigns to make more people take part.
In conclusion, individuals can make a huge improvement in nature by following the policies that come from the government and doing some campaigns that buying recyclable products.
