Some people think secondary school students should study international news as one of their subjects. Other people say this is a waste of valuable school time. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
In modern society, the importance of studying international issues in secondary school is one of heated discussions. Some people say that it is necessary for students to understand the world circumstances while others think it is just waste of time and they should focus on academic knowledge. I think these international subject should in the curriculum because students can prepare for the globalization. In this essay, the reasons of both view will be elaborated.
On the one hand, basically students go to the school in order to get the academic knowledge and communication skills with others. High school students already have much workloads so if they want to learn international issues, students can learn from the magazines and news in their extra time. It is not necessary to studying the global news as one of the courses. Students ought to study more specific academic knowledge which is needed in their majors. Therefore, learning international news as one of the subject is waste of time.
On the other hand, in globalized world, it is essential to know about the world these days. Secondary school students are part of the society and whose who have to lead the world in the future, so it is important to study about the international news. For example, in Korea, there were classes about having discussions of the worldwide issues and those students who attended the classes could think the importance of interacting with other countries and broadened the perspectives of the wide world. Therefore, students should learn global events in the schools in order to prepare for the globalized world.
To sum up, it is debatable that putting the subjects about learning international issues in the curriculum. Some people say it is waste of time and students can get the information about those issues in their extra time but I believe that students can prepare for the global generation so that it is necessary to learn about how the world goes today.
