It is true that acquiring some work
experience from teen ages would be helpful for people’s future careers. That is
why many schools encourage students to do unpaid works today. The experience of
unpaid job may broaden horizons for their lives, however, I believe that it has
also negative sides for students and organizations.
Schools manage free job experience program
to help with student’s development during learning in schools. Generally, students
can get a real experience from what they got into a certain company like an
internship, they would learn a variety of skills and knowledge from senior
workers. Hence, students can broaden their horizons what they will need to do
in their work when they are employed in the future. Similarly, students’ unpaid
work can be beneficial for some institutions and companies too. Genuinely, many
organizations’ work can be more productive effectively as unpaid students help
some basic requirements. Therefore, workers, who are planning significant
projects, can contribute their time more rather than doing less important jobs
at the same time such as copying papers and sorting out some data.
However, this unpaid work is not a suitable
way for teenagers and companies for some reasons. Firstly, students probably
neglect working hard in workplaces because the job which they dedicate doing is
unpaid. Therefore, they think it is not valuable for gaining experiences. As well
as, they face the real working life: they are not involved to have a project
meeting, just doing some small stuff like printing out papers and cleaning. Another
reason is that there can be more distraction of work when companies allow the students
to work. It is true that senior employees cannot focus on their work as they
need to teach students how work gets done every time. Consequently, workers may
underperform their jobs because there can be an interruption from students.
In conclusion, students can have a real
work experience as schools arrange unpaid jobs for them, but it can be
unnecessary to gain valuable work experience as the idea of unpaid work is not
suitable for both students and organizations.
