The bar graph illustrates the percentage of men and women who engaged in physical activity on a regular basis in Australia divided into six different age groups in the year 2010.
Overall, the most noticeable feature from the chart is that women in all age groups involved in physical activity more than men except the groups of 15 to 24 and 65 and over.
Looking at the data more closely, it is seen that the women of age 45 to 54 demonstrated the highest percentage of physical activity engagement at 53.3 percent. However, the women from 55 to 64 year-old group and 35 to 44 year-olds reached relatively high proportions at 53 percent and 52.5 percent respectively, which means that the gap between the highest percentage and them was less than one percent. In contrast, the youngest group of men showed the highest portion among all the other groups of male at 52.8 percent which was about the same with the female age group of 35 to 44. Furthermore, the difference between female and male percentage for doing physical activity on a regular basis was the largest within 35 to 44 year-olds as the males recorded the lowest point at 39.5 percent. However, both men and women showed similar portions when they became 65 years old or over respectively reaching 46.7 and 47.1 percent.
