The two illustrated bar charts outline the marital status
of American from 1970 to 2000. The first chart shows the comparison between
the number of people who tied the knots and separated in the US and the second graph plots
Americans in four different matrimony states in percentage. As a whole, although
married Americans are by far the largest in rate throughout the span, the number
and rate of marriages dropped and the figure of not married Americans increased.
Considering the
comparison of marriages and divorces, when divorced Americans escalated for an
initial decade from 1 million to nearly 1.5 million, married people levelled off 2.5
million in figure. Then, two columns simultaneously declined by around 0.3
million in 1990. While the number of divorces reached to the same position with
the beginning; 1 million, that of marriages plunged to 2 million in the end. Of marital
status of US citizens, it evidently can be observed that the married adults account for the largest figure, however, shows the biggest plummet from 70% to nearly 60%
for 30 years. Interestingly, never married people grew from around 15% by 5% in
the ratio and that of divorced reached almost 10% in the end, whereas it
started mere about 1%. Widowed people in the column stood at less than 10% throughout
the supplied period despite a slight plunge in 2000. |
