It is worthy
to keep in touch with families because they are important, but I believe the
importance of family members decreased throughout the days and especially in
this busy contemporary society. (이 논제에서 제일 중요한 단어는 extended입니다. 그런데 서론에 그걸 전혀 찾아볼 수가 없죠.)
Some people believe extended family members are indeed valuable no matter of the time. Children
mostly complete their emotional growth within the family, which is why some who
were raised by grandparents show different characteristics compared to those raised
by their parents. Therefore, having a good relationship with family members has been is and
will be crucial. People these days often forget the importance of family
members as more and more people live alone or far away from their family
members, so they should make extra time to have family activities. (얘도 대가족을 강조한다기보다는 그냥 가족 자체의 중요성만 얘기하고 있습니다.)
Notwithstanding,
I am of the opinion that extended family is not that important unlike the past.
Households are no longer composed by an extended family, but parents and their
child. In Korea, people commonly meet their family members, except their
parents, twice a year in Thanksgiving day and New Year’s day. Therefore, when contemporary
society’s people need help, they usually ask their friends or colleagues whom people
confront and contact much more. In many cases, acquaintances may feel more comfortable
to ask for something, rather than extended family members whom you (2인칭은 어느정도 구어에 해당하므로, 따로 쓰실 일이 없다고 보셔도 무방합니다.) never called
or met except in official family meetings. The meaning of ‘family’ is not the same
as before.
In
conclusion, it is clear that extended family is important, but it is more persuasive
that the importance has fallen these days. People would rather choose to ask acquaintances
than relatives for help, because they feel closer with them.
