Many governments have made efforts to reduce traffic congestion, and private vehicles are being replaced with public transportations. While still allowing the systems, having vehicle free days also contributes to the improvement in city centres. Some people might think that banning private cars there can actually have more disadvantages, but I do not agree with them and will discuss the reasons in this essay.
Elementally (얘도 사실 의미상 맞는 말이긴 한데, 일반적으로 이렇게 쓰지는 않아요.), vehicle free days can make more bicycle users. One of the reasons why people do not prefer to ride a bike in a city is because they think that it is dangerous to drive it with fast moving cars, or they are unfamiliar to the city map. However, by travelling with a bicycle where there is no cars, they can learn how enjoyable it is and might later want to take it when they commute, and this change can help reduce reducing heavy traffic.
At times, especially for city centres, having fewer vehicles on the roads can significantly improve the overall quality of the air. When there are not many cars, they can move much faster around the city, and the exhaust fumes are less likely to be stuck in jam and pollute the air. If the government sets more vehicle free days or makes similar efforts for the environmental pollution, the city as a whole can see a great improvement in the very near future.
Merely, establishing vehicle free days in a busy city might lead to inconvenience for some people, but there can be more merits. It can encourage them to have sustainable ways of commuting as well as reduce pollution. |
