The supplied
line graph plots the average carbon dioxide (hereafter CO2) emission per
capita from 1967 to 2007 in four main European nations, the UK, Sweden, Italy,
and Portugal. On the whole, the average of the UK shows the
highest emission throughout the given span despite gradual decrease. While Italy
and Portugal’s average output steadily climbed up for 40 years, that of
Sweden dropped significantly. Considering the former half of the period by
1987, the CO2 discharge of the UK started the highest in the graph which emitted
11 metric tonnes(hereafter MT) and it is followed by that of Sweden which depicts
about 9 MT in the beginning. The emission of Italy was almost half less that of
Sweden, and Portugal produced mere 1 MT. For the next 10 years, Sweden, Italy
emitted 2 MT more than the beginning. Even though that of Sweden nosedived to
7 MT in 1987 which shows the marginal difference with that of Italy, Italian
and Portuguese CO2 emission went up and that of the UK indicates insignificant
down. On the other hand, the latter half of the span
after 1987, the explosive emission was observed in both nations, Italy and Portugal
as it jumped up by 1 and 2 MT respectively in 1997, whereas that of the other
two countries dipped. Especially, the graph of Sweden took over the third-highest;
producing about 6 MT due to the escalated emission of Italy which recorded nearly
8 MT of emission, and by continuous nosedive, the output of Sweden ended up
the exact same CO2 production with that of Portugal, nearly 6 MT in 2007. |
