There is less social contact between young and old. What are the reasons? What measures can be taken?
In modern society, the social relationship between young people and old people is very rare. This is because they apparently have a generation gap and lack of communication each other. To tackle this problem, I personally would suggest that providing educational classes to know other generation is certainly necessary.
To begin with, it is apparent that there is a difficulty to understand other generation. For young, they tend to think that elderlies are stubborn and conservative while old people would feel that young people are too liberal and unmatured. The reason why they have a stereotype toward other generation is because of great influence by mass media. For some reason, media have been inclining to promote generation gap to get the power on political and societal issues. This definitely has affected to the two generation to have biased and wrong mindset towards each other. Another reason is that they do not have opportunities to share their ideas or thoughts even with their family members or neighbors. If the society ignore this issue, it would affect to future generation and society in a negative way.
To solve this problem, the collective effort should be needed by the governments and organizations. It is an inevitable truth that old people are not up-to-date recent information and technologies. Due to the fact that, old people certainely have difficulties to communicate with young people. By providing educational classes for old generation, it possibly mitigates the problems little by little. Moreover, the government should provide young people to participate the social gathering or classes with old people. This is not only learning new knowledge but also making social relationship to get better know each other.
In conclusion, although it is true that the relationship between young and old has been rusty, it is time to change the tendency for the future generation by mingling and learning things together.
