It is
true that many environmental problems, especially global warming, have appeared
by developed countries. While this is a serious problem, it can be solved by
promoting the public to use public transportations.
The main
issue with the worldwide increasing temperature is that many islands around the
world are sinking. The sea level is rising as time goes by since global warming
melts glaciers. This leads to the loss of people’s habitation living on islands.
Moreover, the islands that lean on the tourism industry are damaged, with the plummeting
number of tourists. For example, regarding one of the southeast Asian countries,
the income made by tourists is decreasing as the beautiful scenery is disappearing.
Not only the damage of the lucrative industry, but the government makes
habitant on that island move to the mainland.
However,
there are solutions to this problem. One of the ways to keep islands above the
sea, the government should give some benefits to citizens using public
transportation. As the main reason for global warming is an emission,
regulating the usage of individual vehicles would lead to slow down global
warming. For example, the Korean government made a policy that reducing income tax
of whom using buses, subways, and trains. After this policy is implemented, workers’
transportation utilization rate went up from 14% to 37%.
To sum
up, it is clear that the biggest problem caused by global warming is
disappearing islands. Nevertheless, the issue can be resolved by making advantages
that citizens in developed countries can get. |
